| Cesare Lampronti represents the third generation of a family of antique dealers. Established in 1914 by grandfather Cesare, the gallery was later directed by his son Giulio. Soon Giulio's son, Cesare, whose name is alike his grandfather's, took Giulio's place at the gallery. Grown up in a stimulating cultural background - that certainly contributed towards his deep knowledge of Ancient Arts - as well as heir of a wide experience of the field, Cesare, although ranging from painting to sculpture and to ancient furniture, soon turned his attention particularly to painting. So he became one of the most important conoisseurs of this art for the XVII and XVIII centuries, deepening the knowledge of the genres of still life and landscape painting. In these fields he really played the role of pioneer, stimulating the interests of well-known art critics and scholars, such as Ferdinando Bologna and Giuliano Briganti, who gave significant contributions with their studies about the works collected by him. Vice-president of the Antique Dealers' Association since 2005, Cesare participates to the most important public exhibitions of Antique Trade both in Italy (like the Milano International Fine Art & Antiques and the Biennale at Palazzo Venezia in Rome) and abroad, among which we remember the Biennale des Antiquaires in Paris and the TEFAF (The European Fine Art Fair), yearly occurring at Maastricht: this latter a real achievement acknowledged only to few selected Italian exhibitors. |
